You know the Oscars.

You might know the Tonys.

Emmys? Meh.

But hey! The Game Awards are back!

The People’s Choice of Video Games have returned.

Vote for your favorites in categories such as Best Role Playing Game, Best Score/Music, Best Narrative and many more! But just like any other awards show, the biggest prize is the Game of the Year.

I’ll go over each one so that you’re an informed voter…

1. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD

The highly anticipated Zelda game for the Nintendo Switch brings you back to the world of Link, in the middle of a new adventure. In this game, open-world beauty and wonder await you in every corner. This game took a huge step in the right direction for the franchise.

Released March 3rd, you can find it for $59.99 today for the Nintendo Switch.

2. SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY

This Mario game also breathes welcome life into the franchise, with yet another step into open-world for Nintendo.

Take on Cappy with your lovable plumber pal, and posses - I mean capture! - your way across multiple worlds, in order to save Princess Peach!

Read more on this game in my last article, where I dedicate some time to going over some of the new features in the game.

Released October 27, you can find this game for $59.99 today for the Nintendo Switch.

3. PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG)

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, affectionately known as PUBG, is a game still in early access, with developments coming out every so often as the developers work on bugs and new mechanics. Already one of the top selling games on Valve, PUBG throws 100 players onto a deserted island, where they must scrounge for weapons, armor, ammo, health packs, and hi-top shoes as they kill each other mercilessly to become the last one standing, earning a chicken dinner for their work.

Immensely popular with Twitch and streaming, PUBG is always up for a tense game or two.

It’s almost hard to believe that this game is still in early access.

Currently under development, players can participate in early access and buy the game for $29.99 on Steam.

4. PERSONA 5

Anime.

Role playing.

High school.

Superheroes.

Enough said.

Released in September of last year, $39.99 for the PS4.

5. HORIZON ZERO DAWN

Play as Aloy as she struggles to learn about her own past and the past of human civilization.

Once again, beautiful open world graphics.

Immersive story.

And of course…

Robot Dinosaurs.

Released this February, $49.99 for the PS4. And, just November 7th, a dlc released under the title The Frozen Wilds, $26.99 for a new mystery to solve.

With that, the contenders for Game of the Year are wrapped up.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
