Galentine's Day was coined from the popular TV show "Parks and Recreation" in which main character Leslie Knope collects all her favorite gal pals and they spend it without their boyfriends and husbands to celebrate their friendships. I think every girl deserves a national girl day to remind ourselves how awesome we are. Here are some ideas for the perfect Galentine's Day!
Manis or pedis!
What's better than getting pampered alongside with your closest girlfriends to gossip with? It's been a long winter; I don't know about you but my dogs are barking- and bare! Flip-flop season is approaching all too fast and we need to be prepared.
Girl date.
Why not go on a best friend date? Most restaurants will not be packed because of the rush of couples going the next day for Valentine's Day. So, why not grab a little two for $20 at Chili's or even do it big and go to a fancy restaurant?
Sleepover.
It's probably been years since you last had an actually sleepover with your girls. But aren't some of your favorite memories growing up is staying up late with your girls? All you need is snacks, movies, maybe some board games and definitely wine. And lots of it!
Bar night.
Feb. 13 is also known as Desperation Day to HIMYM fans and let me tell you, the bar scene that night is a sight to see! More people than you think are trying to find last minute Valentines so it's the perfect time to people watch. Gather up some girls at the bar and you got yourself entertainment all night!
And, of course, shopping!
I have to admit, one of my favorite things to do is shop. All I need is of my few girls, a little saved up spending money, and a sale's rack and I am set for a good time!
It doesn't matter what you and your girl friends do, but the heart of Galentine's Day is about honoring the friendship and spending much-needed time together away from the drama and the stress of real life and relationships. Happy Galentine's Day, girls!
