Dallas life is seemingly always on the go, and yet, you can spend a lifetime without truly experiencing all of the great places it offers. With so much happening in the Dallas metroplex, it's hard to narrow down all of the choices for where to spend your summer; so hard, that you might even just choose to stay home and watch Netflix because you just can't make your mind up (guilty as charged!). Naturally, a few drinks and a good meal with friends is always a good time. So, here are a few hangouts that you can't go wrong with:

1. HG SPLY Co.

2008 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75206.

This cool spot features plenty of lean meat, veggie and vegan options for the health-conscious foodie. Come here if you're in the mood for some of their famous food bowls, a full bar, and rooftop seating. The atmosphere here is always so inviting with a sleek, wood-decor interior and an incredibly outgoing and hospitable staff.

2. Truck Yard.

5624 Sears St., Dallas, TX 75206.

If eating and drinking at a table built into the back of an old truck sounds like a good time to you, then stop by the Truck Yard. Basically, this place looks like someone creatively took a junkyard and turned it into a laid-back, dog-friendly, food truck-filled beer garden. They have a wide variety of food trucks that come every day for some tasty nibbles. Go on Saturday and Sunday between 2 and 5 p.m. to enjoy some live music.

3. The Blind Butcher.

1919 Greenville Ave., Dallas TX, 75206.

Visit if you're in the mood for trying global-inspired dishes (particularly German) and a selection of local, national, and international crafted beer. Their renowned duck-fat fries are a must-try. They also have a rustic patio for outdoor seating. The food is definitely on the heavier side, so the menu is particularly suiting if you're looking to share with friends, or trying something a little bit different.

4. Vickery Park.

2810 N Henderson Ave, Dallas, TX 75206.

This dark-wooded hangout prides itself on being the "neighborhood bar." Come here for all of your favorite bar food and drink classics. Its covered patio is always playing great music and it's also one of the more popular weekend brunch places in Dallas. The full English breakfast or chicken and waffles definitely won't leave you disappointed.

5. Katy Trail Ice House.

3127 Routh St, Dallas, TX 75201.

This pup-friendly space features a plethora of picnic tables and Christmas lights all year round. It's always super alive on the weekends and is planted with a view of Katy Trail. This spot is more well known for its ambiance and beers on tap than its food. However, their food does cover all of the areas from tacos, to BBQ, to healthy salads.

6. The Grove at Hardwood.

3019 McKinnon St, Dallas, TX 75201.

This place is just the all-around perfect summer hangout. It's snow cone stand has an entire section of alcohol-infused options, making it the perfect adult treat. They also have food trucks for small nibbles. The seating has areas with misting fans for those super-hot Texas summer days. They even have hammocks for ultimate relaxation. The best part is definitely all of the games. Come here with a group of friends and play everything from bocce ball, volleyball, giant Jenga, Cornhole and more!

7. Cane Rosso.

2612 Commerce St, Dallas, TX 75226.

The original Cane Rosso in the Deep Ellum area is arguably the best pizza joint in the DFW area. Their pizzas are thin-crusted, wood-fired, Neapolitan-styled pizzas. Many of their pies are a crazy combination of unique ingredients that just work. My favorite is the Honey Badger. If you are a true pizza lover, you'll probably find yourself being a regular here.

8. LUCK.

3011 Gulden Ln #112, Dallas, TX 75212.

Go to LUCK, which stands for Local Urban Craft Kitchen, at Trinity Groves, for some American comfort food and unique local beers on tap. They source a lot of their food locally and have some of the best pastrami sandwiches you could ever imagine. Plus, their outdoor seating is filled with lights at night and a view of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, making it a great experience from every end.

9. Dallas Grilled Cheese Co.

310 W 7th St, Dallas, TX 75208.

This casual place located in the Bishop Arts District specializes in cheesy perfection, as all of their dishes have some sort of cheese in the mix. And what better goes with all of your favorite cheesy dishes than some beer and cider? It's probably safe to say that grilled cheese has never been done better (at least here in the Dallas Metroplex).

10. Pecan Lodge.

2702 Main St, Dallas, TX 75226.

Pecan Lodge is well known as the best BBQ in Dallas. It's wood-fired BBQ pit burns 24 hours a day and practically everything on the menu is made from scratch. All of the meat is extremely tender with a smokey bark and falls apart effortlessly. There's pretty much always a really long line, but it's totally worth it.

11. Savor Gastropub.

2000 Woodall Rodgers Fwy, Dallas, TX 75201.

Savor, Kylde Warren Park's main restaurant features a selection of all of your classic pub foods, but with a high-end unique twist. They also have modern and comfortable couch-like seating on their patio that will make you want to just sit and people watch forever. They also have a good bar menu and are happy to let you sample whatever you like. It's the perfect restaurant to unwind after a lovely day at the 5.2-acre park.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
