Spring semester is arguably the hardest semester for all of us. We're only a few days in, yet we can feel the weight of a thousand assignments on our shoulders already. It's never too early to start grinding and knocking out those easy assignments.
If you find it impossible to study at home, your bedroom full of distractions -the sudden decision to clean your room for three hours while your discussion board post needs immediate attention- or you know your roommates will be making as much noise as possible, you need to find a more comfortable place to study.
But alas, Strozier can be such a nightmare! The basement is eerily quiet, the first floor is oh, so loud, and the second and third floor are packed and people are fighting for tables! So where can you study this spring semester? You need a comfortable place to set up, access to beverages and snacks, and the ability to stretch out after sitting for so long.
Here are the best places to study this spring semester.
Coffee Shops.
Starbucks isn't the only good coffee shop to study at. Dunkin Donuts, Lucky Goat, Paper Fox, and any other hole in the wall coffee shop is ideal for studying! With an endless supply of coffee and snacks, free Wi-fi, and the comforting smell of freshly brewed coffee, where else would you want to go?
Landis Green.
If you need some fresh air, set up a blanket and some chairs on Landis! Ditch the laptop or tablet for some old-fashioned notecards and study on the freshly cut grass. String up a hammock and sway in the lovely weather while familiarizing yourself with the study material.
Bill's Bookstore on Copeland.
Believe it or not, Bill's has a very nice little study area on the second floor. Complete with outlets and comfy little seats, a great spot to get some studying done while being surrounded by school supplies and textbooks. It's the best of a library and store without the crazy amount of people.
Study Rooms in Your Apartment Complex.
If you live in student housing or a large apartment complex, chances are you have access to study rooms. Perfect for group projects, meeting your neighbors, or being close to home without all of the distractions. Best part of those study rooms is the convenience; packing up after a long night of reviewing notes and being able to walk home.
Greenwise Market.
Ever since the new Publix Greenwise Market opened up on Gaines, it's gained a lot of popularity. The market has an upstairs level, complete with tables and chairs for snacking and studying! When it's time for a study break, head down to the market's deli and grab yourself a bite to eat.
The Bars on Railroad Square.
Ever thought about studying at a bar? Probably not during happy hour, but some bars on Railroad Square are perfect for studying. If they're open during the day, set yourself up in a comfortable booth, order some bar food, and study. Before the rowdy crowds come in, you should be able to get a decent amount of work in. Looking for something outdoors? Happy Motoring bar has a lovely outside patio area!
Poolside.
Need to tan and memorize some crazy vocabulary? Sit poolside to study! If your pool has lounge chairs and an umbrella, you can comfortably study while laying out in the lovely weather. Get yourself a bowl of fruit to munch on while you study and it'll be a great day for studying!
Dirac.
Stroz's lesser-known counterpart, Dirac is just as good, if not better, than Stroz to study at. If you find yourself wandering around, looking for a table or a chair at Stroz, head over to DIrac and find comfort in quieter halls of the library. There's a Starbucks in there, too, if you need a little pick-me-up from a long study session.
