There might not be a single feeling sweeter than sitting down in front of the TV with a bowl of popcorn minutes before ABC's TGIT starts every Thursday night. Before you get yourself situated and start tweeting away with the casts of “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” “How to Get Away with Murder,” or even “The Catch,” let’s take a moment to appreciate the lady who owns both Thursday nights of television and all of us: Shonda Rhimes. She's a titan.

Whether she writes them for her characters or speaks them herself, Shonda has, without a doubt, some of the best quotes out there. If you're ever sitting in a class you don't particularly enjoy (like me in Foundations every Monday), she can help remind you why you're there.

1. The best stories are often true… The narrative of human life is most beautiful when told truthfully and without boundaries.

2. Confidence is key.

3. Dreams are lovely, but they are just dreams. Fleeting, ephemeral, pretty. But dreams do not come true just because you dream them. It’s hard work that makes things happen. It’s hard work that creates change.

4. It also pays to be modest.

5. I ended up building an empire out of my imagination.

6. Preach it, Mellie.

7. This moment right here, me standing up here all brown with my boobs and my Thursday night of network television full of women of color, competitive women, strong women, women who own their bodies and whose lives revolve around their work instead of their men, women who are big dogs, that could only be happening right now.

8. Take care of yourself first.

9. I like the world that we work in to look like the world that we live in. Different voices make for different visions. Different visions make for something original. Original is what the public is starving for.

10. Laying out the hard truths.

11. What if we just decided that we have enough? That we are enough?

12. Independence is awesome.

13. Nobody got anything great by playing it safe.

14. You do you and don’t worry about anyone else.

15. When people show you who they are, believe them. I carry that with me a lot. It has served me well.

16. If you want it, never give up. Never surrender.

17. It was like a snowball going down the hill. Every time you say ‘yes,’ you get stronger and more confident.

18. Give yourself a break.

19. I actually like being alone. I spend most evenings reading and taking long baths.

20. A good solution to most situations:

21. You want to be a writer? A writer is someone who writes every day, so start writing.

22. Love is love.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
