You Might Be From a Small Town If...
Steve Cuddihy

Whether you hate it or love it, there are some undeniable things that happen when you grow up in a small town. You may have thought all the quirky things you grew up doing were unique to only your town, but its not a lot of small towns, especially small southern towns share a lot of activities in common with each other. So here are some things that you might have done if you're from a small town.

1. You might be from a small town if:

you have to list at list three other cities to explain where you live, when you're meeting someone new. Literally you'll get down to cities that aren't even that close to your town just to try to give them an idea of what part of the state you live in.

2. You might be from a small town if:

you seriously know everyone's family before you even get to know them. Everyone is related to everyone in someway in a small town, and because of that everyone knows each other even if you haven't met them in person.

3. You might be from a small town if:

the first thing someone asks you is what church you go to. Not sure if it's a southern thing but people ask it all the time, especially parents and grandparents, for whatever reason it is an important thing to some people.

4. You might be from a small town if:

on Friday and Saturday nights everybody drives to the biggest city close by to go cruising. Seriously everyone will load up in their cars and trucks filled with their friends and drive down a road and turn around and do it all night long.

5. You might be from a small town if:

everybody camped out and celebrating when the Walmart came to town. Seriously it was pandemonium opening day of the Walmart, now instead of driving 20 minutes down the road to the next town over to go get cheap groceries and house products.

6. You might be from a small town if:

anytime you try to go to the grocery store you see at lease 5 people you know and get trapped talking for what feels like hours. You find out quickly to never go out in your sweats because you'll see everyone you know and have to talk to them.

7. You might be from a small town if:

people camped out and went absolutely crazy when the McDonald's came into town. I'm not even kidding people camped out in tents the day before the grand opening and the line was obnoxiously long for about a month until the hype died down.

8. You might be from a small town if:

you went to the rec center for any end of school party. You didn't just ride their every year, you walked there from school with your whole class and teachers to the center.

9. You might be from a small town if:

there's more people your parents age at the high school football games than there are student in the stands. High school football is huge to small towns, and everyone you know will be at a Friday night home game.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
