My friend Travis has called last night after not seeing each other for almost a month and the first words I get: "I'm about to bang my English professor." With great haste I schedule a meet up so I can get the juicy details.

We catch up at our favorite diner spot since high school. I ordered blueberry pancakes with turkey bacon on the side, Travis got cinnamon pancakes with sausage and scrambled eggs. I told him about my new film that I’m writing about to explore my crippling anxieties of becoming an artist. Then he told me about how he is secretly flirting with his English professor to get him an A in class.

Her name is Linda Foster, a graduate from a New England Ivy League university who now teaches at NYU and Travis’ Writing and Research course. He first explained to me her slim figure and small stature. She comes into class with an informal yet sophisticated attire that draws Travis’ attention easily. Every time she starts class she bends over to pull down the projector screen, visibly displaying her rear to Travis that is in the front row. During the third week of class, he decided to make a move.

As I’m killin’ it with these blueberry pancakes, I look over to Travis and see has stopped his story. I ask him if he’s okay andthen he responds, “Bro she just texted me” while looking at his phone.

“Hold on, how does she have your number?” I ask him.

“Oh, yeah, so anyway. I go to her during her office hours. Mind you she’s an adjunct so her office is way down on the lower level so I was a little lost. I get to her office and she’s sitting there with her two buttons undone looking at her laptop. Say hi and tell her about the homework I have been missing. You know what this lady said? She said that it’s understandable since she was in my situation not too long ago. I’m guessing she’s like early 30s. God she’s so bad!”

He says that she assured him that as long as he gets his assignments in on time there would be nothing to worry about. Then she gave him her number and said, “If there’s anything you need just give me a call.” She gave a little wink when she did that and to him it could only mean one thing: she wants to talk to him about homework intensively.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
