The Thank You That My Best Friends Deserve

My favorite quote of all time is "Everything happens for a reason," and that is mainly because it can be applied to absolutely everything, every situation, and everyone in your life. It's relevance to every aspect is why I believe that this quote is fundamental to my existence as well as that of others.

My freshman year of college brought me so many new people, experiences, and life lessons. It was hands-down the most influential year of my life and I owe that to so many people and experiences. Something that always sticks out to me when reflecting on my college experience so far is the people I have met and the lifelong and life-changing friendships that have been formed.

I often find it funny how friendships can form out of the blue, my two best friends were just my neighbors and girls who lived on my floor at the beginning of freshman year. Now, they are the two people I tell everything too, the good and the bad. They are the people I love going on random and spontaneous adventures on, and the people that when I am with them, I can truly say that I am genuinely happy.

It was the night before our chemistry final in December 2017, when the three of us had locked ourselves into a study room trying to retain as much information as possible that we bonded in a way I can't even describe. We were all close friends prior to this, but that night our group name for the three of us was coined, The Holy Trinity, the origins we still have no recollection of to this day. We all had this strange and sudden epiphany dawn on us and just instantly became closer and the very best of friends.

From this night we have shared countless 2 AM dorm adventures, trips to get milkshakes, mental breakdowns, and drives around Tucson belting our favorite songs. The three of us indulging in each other's impulsive decisions and making some hysterical and questionable choices together. These choices make for some of the best memories of college that I have and make me so excited for the memories that have yet to come.

I love how each of us, so different from each other, get along so well and can truly support each other through every high and low. A special characteristic of our friendship is that we don't have to anything fancy or specific when hanging out together, everything we do comes about naturally and seamlessly. From just hanging out to watching movies, to going on a late night ice cream run and ending it all with a spontaneous photo shoot, that's how I love to live life, unplanned adventures with those I love the most.

I want to thank them for being there for me when I'm having a mental breakdown when I just need someone to talk to, and especially when I suddenly crave spontaneous adventures. Words can't even properly convey the thank you that they both deserve, but Gabby and Juliana, thank you for being my best friends, my confidants, and being crazy enough to put up with my wild spirit. You both have my heart and more in life ❤️

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
