When I was younger, the thought of living with my best friend excited me more than presents on Christmas morning. Imagining living together in a small apartment and getting to hang out together everyday was something I would think about to pass the time. I mean think about it — It would be like a sleepover every night. Little me didn’t understand that living with my best friend might not be the best idea.
For starters, we’re both too messy.
I am not a messy person in general, but everyone can agree on the fact that college has the ability to flip your world upside-down some weeks. The amount of times I have apologized to my best friend for a messy room is too many to count. Living together would only encourage us to be twice as messy.
Being productive together is a whole issue within itself.
We never get anything done when we are together. If laughing and stalking people on Instagram counts as getting stuff done, then we are the most productive people on the planet.
Eating healthy? Never heard of it.
If there is one thing we do more than anything else, it is eating junk we shouldn’t be. I always have a date to a Mexican restaurant when my best friend is around. Yes we said we were going to start our diet on Monday, but we obviously meant next Monday.
What are you going to wear?
No longer would the struggle of deciding what to wear be an issue. We would both already be wearing our “just going to see my best friend” clothes, which obviously consist of sweatpants and big T-shirts, so deciding to look nice would never be an issue.
Our home would definitely be a zoo.
If sharing every video of a puppy that comes across our timelines has any indication of how many pets we’re going to have, we are in big trouble. I have a feeling we would be a little too good at sneaking puppies behind our landlord’s back
I love you too much.
And by that I mean I love you too much to end up hating you. You’re my favorite person in the whole world but even the best pairs need some time apart.
So here’s to being best friends and wishing to live together one day, but knowing deep down for the sake of our friendship that might not be the best idea.
