"How I Met Your Mother" aired for the very first time in 2005, but people still seem to be raging over it 12 years later. This sitcom about a group of 30-something-year-olds that can't seem to figure their lives out is one of the most popular shows streaming on Netflix. Sadly, we will all have to say goodbye to HIMYM on November 13th when it's removed from Netflix. In honor of this great loss, here's proof that the cast of HIMYM is the epitome of every friend group- wait for it- EVER.
1. Ted: The Hopeless Romantic
Not a bad thing, just a fact. Everyone has a friend that hopelessly looks for love. Ted is the epitome of a hopeless romantic, he dates so many different girls throughout the show just to come to the realization that you can't look for it, it has to come to you. This friend is also the one who always needs advice but none of it is ever satisfying because they're going to do their own thing either way.
2. Lily: The Wise One
We all have that one friend who we ALWAYS go to for advice. This friend just always know what to say like Lily. Lily is always the one to bring Ted and Robin to their senses. This is the friend that everyone is grateful for because they help you make the hard decisions and tell you like it is. For some reason, it feels like this friend has so much more life experience than you, even if they're just making something up to make you feel good.
3. Marshall: The Overly Nice One
Sometimes people are so nice that it's almost irritating like, how are you this nice? Marshall represents all the people who are too nice and oftentimes let people step all over them. The overly nice friend is the one that you enjoy spending time with because they are just really good company. It's never a bad thing to be nice, but it's not fair when the Marshalls of the world get taken advantage of.
4. Barney: The, for lack of a better word, "Flirt"
You know what I mean by the "flirt," purposely in quotations. Barney has a playbook filled with ways to hit on girls. We all have that friend that is more experienced in the relationship/hook-up area. You know what I mean? Must I say more? We love all the stories we get to hear about it though! Judgement-free zone.
5. Robin: The Tough One
Robin is my favorite character in the show just because she's so bada$#. She shoots guns and drinks beer and doesn't need a man to thrive. In regards to the friend group, she's a guy's girl. She has a hard time getting along with women and she just doesn't care about much. She's the one who doesn't fall in love easily and can't think long-term. But, she's also the friend that you can go to for anything.
