My Best Friend Wasn't My First Choice... But She's The Best Thing That's Ever Happened To Me.

It's national best friend week and my best friend deserves a day where I say thank you and not give her any sarcasm about how much I hate her. I never thought we would be best friends but I am so glad we are today. We all have that person in our life that we know was meant to stick around. So take some time and just tell you best friend you love them!

Dear Best Friend,

You weren't my first choice and for that, I sincerely apologize. I look back at the four years of memories we could have had when we met freshman year of high school and I wonder what would have been different. I wasted my time on other people as did you and I don't think either of us even gave the other a second thought. But I will say I thank God we reunited senior year and you were forced to endure another year of math with me!

I don't regret not being close with you freshman year because I believe it let me go through the heartaches of being around the wrong people. I was able to experience what it's like to come in second place on the social scale. Now, you and I come first to each other and I am able to truly appreciate it.

We are complete opposites in some aspects and I still wonder how in the world we even work as best friends. But in other ways we are the same and as it goes in Frozen, "we finish eachothers- sandwiches!"

But now, I want to thank you.

Thank you for choosing me when it felt like no one would. Thank you for enduring the tears and incessant/random laugh attacks I get. Thank you for listening to my awful jokes and pretending to like a few of them. Thank you for actually reading my pages of ranting text messages when I feel like I may explode. Thank you for listening to my stories after you've already heard them a million times.

But most of all, thank you for loving me and becoming a sister to me.

You are the Nemo to my Dory... Which reminds me, thank you for never letting my horrible memory bother you!

I am looking forward to many more years of craziness with my best friend! Here's to jamming out to "Shut Up and Dance With Me" and thinking about how that was our favorite part of prom. Here's to watching Finding Dory a hundred times before I leave again for college and texting each other any time we watch it alone. Here's to boy talk and drama talk and late night talks when we don't even make since. Here's to planning our weddings together and talking about what we would do as maids of honor and how you'll have a nice ride for me in case we decide we're not ready! Here's to all the things we have to look forward to in the future!

Dear best friend, you weren't my first choice. But I am so thankful you are now.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
