College is the four best years of your life... most of the time. Although Michael Scott and "The Office" gang don't go to the college (except Andy, arguably), many of them can relate perfectly to the highs and lows of freshman year.

Getting admitted to a college is truly an exciting time.

But once you get there, you start to realize what you have gotten yourself into.

You start developing totally new eating habits... if you even remember to eat that day.

You start walking around the campus at noon and finally register how many people attend your school.

You get really excited when you finally meet someone with similar interests.

You also have to learn how to deal with people that you don't get along with, especially in labs and group projects.

Everyone has a hard time making friends at first, since you're meeting so many different people that you may never see again, but don't let that get you down. Just don't be afraid to put yourself out there, because someone else might be too afraid to.

You do just about anything for free food, SWAG or shirts (including liking and following all of their social media accounts, posting a picture of yourself, giving them your email or signing up for an organization for only the first meeting with free pizza).

During freshman year, you are still getting information from Wikipedia, even though it is "not a reliable source."

You find yourself in large lecture with a pressing question, but don't want to look stupid so then you just keep quiet and hope someone else asks.

You spend your first few weeks constantly going out to eat places in hopes of making new friends until you're finally broke. But who needs money, anyway, right?

You realize they were right when they said that high school is nothing like college. You fail your first exam and it leaves you questioning your whole life.

But then, you suck it up and decide...

You realize how great it feels when you finally get to go home for the weekend and leave everything behind you for several days.

Then you're constantly harassed by relatives, asking you time and time again, "How's college going?"

Sometimes you find yourself pulling all-nighters studying, while your friends are out partying all night and you begin to think that you're missing out on everything.

So then you tell yourself that staying up all night and going to 8 a.m. classes isn't THAT bad.

And when you finally think that you have you life together, something always messes it all up.

Although not everything will go right during your freshman year, it is all just a part of the learning experience. You just have to realize that it is only temporary and embrace it. These next four years are supposed to be about not only finding yourself, but enjoying yourself as well. Don't forget to take a moment and realize how far you've come and how far you will go.
