Freshman Year Of College: As Told By 'The Breakfast Club'

Who would have known that the movie that took place in high school detention, actually applies to your freshman year of college..

The Breakfast Club is an all around great movie. Yes, it is an older 80s movie, however that does not make it "out of date" or "unrelatable" at all. if you have not seen the movie, first off, what are you doing with your life, but second, I highly recommend watching it. It has always been my favorite movie and there are so many valuable life lessons in the movie. Although, it was not until I got to college that I realized how much it actually applies to my life even more now since I am on my own and learning to become an "adult".

1. You smell that? Freedom. We're finally on our own without any parents telling us what to do.

2. When your parents ask "Have you made any friends yet?", but considering all your friends went to other colleges, they should already know the answer to that.

3. When you begin classes and you can already pick out that one person that asks too many questions and has too much too say all the time, but thank goodness this is only for a semester.

4. You realize for the most part that people do not dress up for class, however, every now and then you come across the rare sighting of the girls that have their hair and makeup done for their classes.

5. After a couple months on your own you realize you can't do this "adult" thing for much longer.

6. Of course you go to class, but most of the time you have no idea what your professor is talking about. All you keep thinking is that you are wasting perfectly good nap time.

7. When everyone starts to pack up to leave and your professor says, "I have two minutes left and I intend to use them. Please sit back down."

8. You realize that you have so much homework to do, but watching Netflix is just so much more important.

9. When your plans to go out for the night fall through, but you didn't even want to go out in the first place. But since your friends seem mad about it, you have to act like you care too...

10. When you pulled an all-nighter to study for your exam and you walk out after and automatically know that you still failed it.

11. Your best friend is having a mental breakdown and you're trying to find the right words to say.

12. You decide to go home and visit your family and your parents wonder if you are okay because all you want to do is sleep and eat.

13. Your parents begin questioning you on how your classes are going and how your professors are.

14. You take a long hard look at yourself and realize your grades/life are slowly going downhill thanks to Netflix, naps and social media.

15. Your professor decides to go ahead and give you an exam this week anyway, even though your final exam in that class is next week.

16. You quickly realize that the year is almost over, and your grades are worse than you initially thought. This means it's time to pick up the slack in the two weeks that you have left.

17. As your studying for finals, all you keep thinking about is how pointless this study session actually is because you won't remember any of this in an hour.

18. Having a mental breakdown while studying for finals...

19. Your professor tells you your final grade for their class and it is .25 points away from an A and you just want to say a few choice words to them.

20. But now it is finally summer and you did not fail any classes (contrary to your beliefs), so you can finally enjoy the stress-free period until it all restarts next semester.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
