Open Letter To My Freshman Year Roommate

Yes, we are a mess, but at least we are a mess together.

Open Letter To My Freshman Year Roommate

To my freshman year roommate:

It seems like just yesterday we were moving in and getting settled in this new chapter of our lives. We were both a little scared but we somehow made it through together.

Lessons were learned, mistakes were made, but we got through them together and I am forever thankful for you.

In the beginning, I'll admit, it was frustrating and strange getting used to living with someone new, but we figured it out. From re-arranging our room at 3:00 am, to doing laundry at 4:00 am, I honestly wonder how we made it to all of our classes every morning.

Our late night talks, face masks, and movies made for every girls night perfect. Leave it to us to de-stress between studying for tests.

Powdered doughnuts and chip runs to the P.O.D. market on campus quickly became a staple in our routine. Our fashion runways, trying to pick out an outfit and the best Spotify playlists made for nights full of laughs and fun that I'll never forget.

I never imagined our year would fly by like this, but I wouldn't trade this experience for the world. Freshman year has been full of memories, giggles, and good times. From our trips to urgent care in the middle of the night, inside jokes about the craziest things, and late nights working through homework together, the experience cannot be compared.

Through all the stress and mountains of homework, living with you has been an experience that I think has been for the better of both of us. All of our late night talks, devotions, and heart-to-hearts have allowed me to make a friend I never knew I needed.

You have been there from the laughs, the tears, the gossip, and the smiles. College is a whole new world, and I wouldn't rather crave sushi from Umi with anyone else.

From laughing till it hurts to crying to make the hurt stop, our friendship grew more and more. From waking each other up from naps to putting my iced coffee in the fridge for me, you truly are a great friend and roommate.

Even though we may go our separate ways in college, be super busy with life, or lose touch, I will always consider you a friend.

Here's to you, roomie! Thanks for everything.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
