Dear fellow freshman,
Yes, what you went through is called college. It tries to educate you, but it devoured your money and sucked out your soul. You try to conquer it and persevere to the end. But sometimes, you feel like you just can't win. This semester, your first college semester at that, probably whooped your butt.
You did the typical late night studying until 2 a.m. and got up early to go to your 8 a.m. class. You had note cards all over your desk, did numerous study groups, but still failed your test. You also forgot about those two assignments. You even went coffee crazy during mid-terms and finals. You procrastinated an ungodly amount of times! It will only get harder. There were times when you were at your lowest point and want to give up.
But, I know that there were times when you were on top of the world, having the time of your life! Like the fun you and your friends had on those random Walmart trips. Or the time when you aced a test you thought you failed. Maybe it was the lit playlist you had on the many trips you had with your squad. It could have been how you learned more about yourself, more than any other time in your life.
Yes, college was a roller-coaster of emotions. It was full of fun and full of times of stress! There were times when you were at your lowest point and wanted to give up. But, the most important part is that you didn't give up. You kept keeping on!
Also, keep in mind that you are not the only one! I not only write this letter of encouragement to you, but also to myself. WE survived our first semester! Yes, what we just went through is called college! But, we did it! So, we are going to look at college in its scary face next semester, and we are going to kick MORE college butt!
Your fellow freshman friend,
Brittany W.
