Lane Two,

I just wanted to let you know that I am extremely thankful to have lived with you guys for my first year of college. From the endless laughs to the comfort you gave me when I'm sad, we've been through everything together. I never thought that I would find such a good group of people that I want to be my forever friends.

From day one I knew we would be great together. We created memories I can never forget starting on that day. Entering to college was terrifying, we had no idea what was about to happen. We figured it out together and I feel lucky to have you guys by my side throughout the entire process. We learned by each others side, and I can never forget how helpful all of you were.

Thank you for the memories that were brought from blasting high school musical and dancing on a Friday afternoon, getting terrible dinners together at the dining hall, and the runs to five guys right before it closes. I have countless memories that involve you guys and I wouldn't want to change any of them. Thank you for always being my models when I need to practice anatomy on someone, or when I needed someone to quiz me. Thank you for pulling me out of my room when I shouldn't have spent another minute studying in there. Thanks for ordering food with me when I really needed to eat something that wasn't the dining hall. We've had family dinner at the dining hall and when we tried to make food in the kitchen downstairs.

I can honestly say I could not have gotten luckier than I did when we all got placed together. No other floor could have been as interactive as we were. We're so close I really do consider all of you my second family. Thinking that we will all have a different floor next year makes me sad. I wish I could live with you all again, but I hope that we will always come back to one another. I hope that these friendships we've created last a lifetime.

As we're about to leave, I hope that we're all creating more memories down to the last second. Our floor will always be a legacy and will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish you all an amazing next three years, can't wait to see you all around campus and visit your new rooms! Thanks Lane Two, for everything.

And in the wise words of Winnie the Pooh,

How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
