College - you've dreamed about it since middle school. The parties you'll attend, the alcohol you'll consume, the pot you'll smoke... and the education, of course. But, it's not all it's cracked up to be.
I've been a freshman at Middle Tennessee State University for nearly a whole semester now, and let me tell you, it is an entirely different world than you imagined. Sure, there are parties and drinking and smoking pot, if you're into that, but there's also an insane workload suddenly dropped onto you by your understanding professors, and you'll find yourself with an extreme lack of time to do much of that partying you dreamed of. Besides that, you have to learn to become an adult living on your own, assuming you're living in a dorm or apartment. While that's not a problem for some people, most people don't find it so easy. There is some solace, however, when you're a freshman - all the other freshman are looking for new friends, just like you, so making friends is not a problem, even if you're an introverted and socially awkward guy like me.
College isn't so bad, once you get used to it, especially when you set off the smoke alarm in your dorm because vaping is the popular thing these days... but that's another story.
