“I believe in America because we have great dreams, and because we have the opportunity to make those dreams come true.”
One flag, one land, one heart, one hand, One Nation evermore!
The Fourth of July is a special day for all Americans and we celebrate the freedom and independence that goes along with it in our own way. Each year, everywhere, it is often celebrated with picnics, parades and fireworks. While these are all common, where I grew up, the saying "Small towns do it best" describes the feeling. Well, this is a real thing for my hometown when it comes to this special holiday. My small hometown celebrates the Fourth of July and Garage Sale weekend best. (It's kind of what we're known for). There's nothing like the small town celebrations and festivities where everyone in the community gets together and you are able to meet with people you haven't seen since last year at this time or maybe even several years. It's the one day a year that everyone has one thing in common: they are all trying to have a good time celebrating with those around them.
Growing up in a small town definitely has its ups and downs, but when it comes to city-wide events, they are definitely the place to be. In a small town, everyone knows everything about everyone. It can be nice at times when you're walking down the street and you are able to greet everyone you see, but when it comes to pointless drama around town it can be a royal pain in the butt. On the Fourth of July, all of that is pushed aside and everyone gets together to celebrate our independence. There truly is something for everyone; activities like the 5 mile run to the kids fun run or the street dance, the fishing contest or the car show, and of course, you can’t forget the best parade around or the AMAZING fireworks display in the park. It’s just the perfect celebration for a beautiful day. What a great day to get away from the hassles of everyday life and relax and spend quality time with friends and family. On this birthday of our nation so great, hopefully you all made it a day to remember. “God Bless America!”
