Do you even remember what makes you, you?
The little things that spark that small flame inside yourself, the things that separate you from the entire crowd. Every time you give and give a little piece of yourself up, you are signing up for the process. The process of blending into any environment you come into contact with.
A chameleon blends into the environment for one soul purpose, survival. Why do people choose to change their social skin to fit in with the others around them?
We were not designed to look, act, or talk like anyone else but ourselves.
We all know that one person, that one person that is so uneasy with who they are, they bend with the wind of others actions, likes, and dislikes. Agree with whatever the group is doing, even though it might contradict the morals and interests of the sole person. We say we all know that one person, but do we see these qualities in ourselves?
Yearning to fit somewhere, just to say we have people that like us. Choosing to fit into the mold of your generation. Too afraid to rock the boat or too afraid to be questioned by the society that does not understand you.
Do you ever think there is a reason you do not fit in with a certain group of people? Trying so hard to fit in, but at the end of the day not realizing who you even are anymore.
He plays football, now I like football. Even though I have never watched a game in my life.
"You ever heard of this song? Yeah, I listen to it all the time." Even though you grew up on country music and never had an interest in Kanye West.
These things might seem so simple, but these little things are the start of the blending process.
Then it will begin.
You will begin changing all the little things that make you, you. Things that make you different then the crowd you have decided to be apart of. The little things end up being the big things. The big things that give you your different color. Not one sunset is identical to the last one.
Do not lose what is special and unique about you trying to fit into a cookie cutter image.
Looking in the mirror you will not admire what you see, you will just see the transformation of what you let happen.
Take the time to love what makes you different and unique from the group. Admire the different thought patterns and morals that you process that people might not instantly understand.
Love the skin you were given, be nice to it.
You might get to change the makeup that other people see, but deep down you will always be you. Let you shine, no more blending into the background.
You were meant to be seen.
