Once in a blue moon you will encounter someone equally as beautiful on the inside as the out. I am very fortunate to say that I have a person like this so close to my heart, my Mother. I can not put into words how blessed I am to have been raised by such a strong, kind, and passionate soul — she is everything I hope and dream to be when I become a mother. Being away from my Mom for nine months and only seeing her sporadically throughout the school year has truly solidified my appreciation for each and every thing she has done for me.
If you have had the chance to meet her, you would absolutely agree that my Mom is one of the most amazing people to walk in the room. This woman, my best friend, has spent countless hours of her time helping me flourish into the best person that I can be. I know that I can speak for a lot of people by saying that I don’t show my appreciation for my Mother to the extent that I should. So Mom, please know that I am thankful for it all; the beautiful home we live in, the food you put on the table, the clothes you put on my back, the warm hugs you give me when I am feeling down. Thank you for putting up with my shenanigans on a daily basis, for showing me right from wrong, and for loving me unconditionally. Even though we butt heads once in a while, I know that you always have my best interest in mind. I count my blessings every day and wonder what I did to deserve such an inspirational figure, like you, as my Mom. You have provided me with the best life that I could possibly dream of. You have supported me through thick and thin and have stuck by my side even on the worst days. You are my my mentor, my bud, and my mother. All I am and ever will be is because of you.
As I have grown older, I have frequently caught myself thinking about how similar we really are. They’re right when they say that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. But hey, it’s definitely not a bad thing! We have been through it all together. You are my rock, my sword, my shield, my everything. I will never be able to thank you enough, Mom. You truly are one of a kind.
“I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, my Mommy you’ll be.” -Robert Munsch
