In life you want to be successful. To be successful you usually have to get degree. To get a degree you need to attend a college or university and find a degree that drives your passion. From a student’s point of view this is a whole lot to handle especially when you are coming in as a freshman who has no idea what they want to do with the next four years of their lives. Some work hard to graduate top of their class with the majors that they have dreamt of since they could speak and some just take the route their parents want since they know it will be easiest in the long run. And then there is the majority of us who are stuck in the middle scrambling around trying to figure out what really fuels our passions and how we can transfer that into a career.
If you are the majority who feels as if there is no light at the dark student loan debt collecting tunnel that we call college then take a step back and realize that you aren’t alone, and that you will find a major or career that fills you with excitement every morning. And when this day comes and you find yourself going to class yearning for information…then you know that you have found your one true major. The monotonous lecture halls will turn into diverse learning discussion based classes and tedious labs will turn into exciting group projects that you actually want to present to your peers and professors.
When you finally get into a major that speaks to your soul you find that hours of homework will consume you in a good way and the final essays fly by because youre so excited to put all the knowledge you have onto paper so the world can read it (well maybe just your professor, but they basically are the world a solid amount of the time.) Early morning classes turn out to be a great start to the day and push you through the rest of your boring generals because you know that they are helping you along the journey of graduating with your beloved degree. Professors turn into mentors and friends even and aren’t the rambling human in front of the room whos voice is like a lullaby on an early Wednesday morning seminar.
The major you are meant to be in could be the one you started with your freshman year or the one you stumbled across junior year at a career field. It could also be something you go back for when you are 35 and wanting more out of life. But, when the pearly gates of the college world open up to you, it’s a fresh breath of air and a new found feeling of excitement that helps push you through hours more of hard work. Because when you find a career path that sparks your passion, there are very few things that can get in the way of ruining the joy you will get from being involved with it. So don’t fret about rushing to find your degree and career path, it will happen in good time.
