For The First Time all Semester

10 pages of homework left untouched

Who knew that I really had that much

What's the point of all these classes anyway.

For years I've barely gotten by

Hardly even had to try

School was just a way to pass the day.


But for the first time all semester

My stress level is intense

For the first time all semester

All this work's not making sense

And I know that it's totally crazy

To think I might survive

But for the first time all semester

I've really gotta try.


What if I fail at Algebra

what if I fail at...everything?


Tonight I must go to study hall

Strap my butt in the chair and all

And hope that somehow I can help my grades

I'll study until I can't no more

Harder than I ever have before

Until I think I might just go insane


But for the first time all semester

I woke up before 9 am.

For the first time all semester

I did more than just sleep in

And I know it is totally crazy to dream of a 4.0

But for the first time all semester

Who knows where this could go!


Don't give up now. Please don't back down.

Get the grade and make your family proud.

No fun.

Just work.

Ignore all your friends and be a little jerk.


But it's only for today

In agony I stay

Tell my professors--prepare to change my grades!

My grades!


For the first time all semester

I watched Netflix for less than six hours

For the first time all semester

I slept for less than three hours

And I know that finals are approaching

But I will not be afraid

Cause for the first time all semester

Coffee saved my day.
