To my little sister:

No mater how old you get, and no matter how much taller than me you get, you will always be my little sister. I know that you hate when I say you're so young because we really are not that far off in age, but you will always seem so much younger to me because I look out for you as if you're still an oblivious 8 year old in the supermarket wandering away from mom. You will never truly understand how protective an older sister is of her little sister, no matter how old you get.

Watching you grow up and achieve new things everyday is bittersweet in every way possible. You have achieved everything that I have and more, and I could not be more proud of the beautiful person you are becoming. It feels like just yesterday I was 10 and you were 8 and we would argue over who got to play with what Barbie doll, or who would get to pick the TV show, or how much authority I had over you when mom and dad weren't home. We used to drive each other crazy, but now you're the best friend that I need in my life. I can trust you with anything, and I know you always have my back and I hope you know I would do anything for you.

It is absolutely crazy to know that you are getting your license soon, and it is crazy to know that you have your junior prom coming up. Next summer you'll be touring colleges and applying to them a year from now. You'll be figuring out your future soon enough, and I can promise you that it will be stressful, but I'll be here to guide you every step of the way as your older sister. You'll be qualified for captain of your sports soon, and you'll go through all of your lasts. Please, enjoy every second of it. As we grow older, I see that time flies and you're growing up way too fast.

You've grown up into a beautiful young woman, and you will never understand how truly proud I am of you and who you are becoming. I love you more than words could ever describe and I will always be here for you no matter what. I appreciate the laughs and joy that you bring into my life everyday, and I would not be the person I am today if it was not for you.
