Sisters make the best friends. They are the greatest gifts in life. The bond between sisters is unparalleled. From birth, you automatically are two peas in a pod. Although we don’t get to choose our siblings, I would have chosen mine. I lucked out. She adds greatness to my life. The older I get, the more I appreciate my sister. Sarah, this one’s for you.

An older sister makes growing up easier.

Because the first-born is the guinea pig, she’s made it a lot less tough for the younger sibling. Not only this, she guides you. Your older sister can answer any question, weird or not. The truth is that she was in your shoes once and knows how you’re feeling. She has experienced what you’re going through, whether it is personal, related to boys, friends, or school. You can trust her with everything.

She lets you borrow her clothes.

Her wardrobe is yours, even when she doesn’t think so. The term “lets you borrow” is loosely defined. Sometimes against her knowledge, you rock her style. But you always give her recognition when complimented. “It’s my sister’s” is a common line you frequently use.

She is a role model.

She’s been there, done that. She is wiser and smarter. You look up to her. She has set the bar high. Those are big shoes to fill. You can learn from her mistakes and also follow in her footsteps.

She offers to drive you places.

Having an older sister is game changing, especially because she drives before you. You never had to take the bus to school after sophomore year or have your parents drop you off places anymore. You ride in style wherever you go. She is selfless and does so much for you.

She always has your back.

Your sister picks up on the hint: when you don’t like someone, she doesn’t either. She warns you when a boy isn’t good. She tells you what not to do behind your parents back (or how to get away with it). She looks out for you no matter what the situation is.

She goes on shopping sprees with you.

No one is more ready to go to the mall than your older sister. She’ll even make a day out of it. She’ll take you to lunch and often pay. It’s the only date you will ever need! It doesn’t get any better than this.

You can rely on her.

Your older sister is there to listen. She hears your never-ending stories that begin with “guess what?” or “you will never believe what happened.” She is there to gossip and give advice. You know she will always answer the phone, or FaceTime because she cares. You’re her little sister and she’d do anything for you.

She supports you.

Your older sister is your #1 fan. She is the first to say how proud she is of you. She loves to brag. You’re honored to be sisters and make a powerful duo. You’re the epitome of sibling goals.

She is your best friend.

You are so lucky to have an older sister. God has blessed you with a best friend for life. She is someone that has been there through it all, thick or thin, in sickness or in health — you might as well be married to her. She will be there for every stage of your life. From diapers to Depends (old people diapers), she’ll be by your side forever.

To all the older sisters out there, especially you, Sarah — you’re the best, I wouldn’t trade you for the world, and I love you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
