There are so many delicious foods that everyone loves to eat. Most people love to eat whatever they want (I do too!), that is where some issues can come into play. Luckily, there are a few simple foods that can be swapped out with healthier foods to start leading you to the healthier life you want to live.

1. Replace butter with canola oil or olive oil (Oil has less saturated fats.)

2. Replace white bread with whole wheat bread.

3. Try an English muffin instead of a bagel.

4. Try spiralized zucchini or cook with whole wheat noodles instead of regular pasta.

5. Swap out pita chips with fruits and vegetables.

6. Replace the bread you would use on a sandwich with healthy whole wheat tortillas to make it into a wrap.

7. Eat dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. There are even dark chocolate M&M's!

8. Swap out white rice for brown rice.

9. Replace potato chips with corn tortilla chips.

10. Try fat-free pudding instead of ice cream.

11. Swap out orange juice with oranges.

12. Replace sour cream with plain non-fat greek yogurt.

13. Freeze a banana and make 2-ingredient "nice cream" instead of eating ice cream.

14. Use oil based salad dressing instead of creamier ones like ranch. Replace your ranch habits with balsamic vinaigrette or Italian dressing.

15. If you like fish, salmon is a great substitute for steaks!

It is okay to splurge every so often, but if you want to feel healthier try some of these great swaps. These suggestions will slowly help you start to lose weight. Starting to become a healthier person involves eating right and not eating a ton of junk food. I'm not saying to cut out all of the bad foods from your diet, but just simply replacing some of the foods you're eating will have a tremendous change in your lifestyle.

Start small and build up.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
