Follow Your Dreams And Follow Your Gut

Following your dreams and what your gut tells you, is what matters, don't let anyone tell you different.

Follow Your Dreams And Follow Your Gut

Ever little kid wants to be something when they grow up, I know when I was a kid I always wanted to be a writer and a photographer. It was two things that I loved to do. And I still love doing it. I even work as a freelance photojournalist at one point in my life.

But there was a point in my life where I didn't think I was good enough and that maybe I should do something else, something more meaningful. I didn't think writing and taking photos would make a difference and that it wouldn't have an impact on anyone.

But I was wrong. Once I started taking photos of my kids, I started feeling happy again and gained my love of photography back. Seeing them smile and capturing those moments, made me realize that I didn't have to be a nurse, doctor, engineer or anything like that to make a difference.

Because I was making a difference in my kid's life, and mine, by being happy with what I love and capturing every moment I can with them and my family.

I asked my boys what they wanted to be when they grew up. My oldest, who is 8, said he wants to be an artist and a professional rock climber, while my 4-year-old wants to be a pro mountain biker and swim with sharks. They have great imaginations and big dreams which they should follow.

It's fun to watch them grow and find their passion for what they want to do. What was your passion growing up, what did you want to do? Did you grow up to do that or did you move on to something else?

Even thou I don't have my dream job, which is working for national geographic magazine being a field photojournalist, I am still writing for Odyssey, I am taking photos and writing my first poetry book. And I'm happy doing what I'm doing right now.

There's more I have to learn and get better at, and that goes for anything that you want to be. And that's what I tell my kids, if you want to be a rock climber or mountain biker then you need to practice to keep getting better.

It doesn't matter what you passionate about, as long as it makes you happy and it's what you want to do when you grow up. Work hard and keep practicing to get better at it. Hard work always pays off.

Dreams can come true, just keep working towards them and never give up, and don't let negativity get you down or in the way of those dreams. Keeping positive, hard work and passion are what you need in your life.

Love what you do and don't let anyone tell you differently, don't let them say what you are doing is not meaningful or won't make an impact because it's your dreams, not theirs.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
