Florida Georgia Line House: A Review

So, my friends and I have made it a personal goal to try all the bars in Nashville; a lofty, but very rewarding goal. I’ll be honest in saying we have made a dent, but we still have many more to try in and around the Nashville area. One that we went to last weekend is brand new, called the Florida Georgia Line House. This is what I thought.

First of all, there are three floors within this bar, ground, second, and the roof. There is a very different atmosphere in each which makes it a really cool experience. Not to mention, there are bars on every floor, which really aids the traveling drinker, as they make their way through this dynamic venue, whilst attempting to maintain their buzzed spirit.

The first floor is sort of a laidback dance floor, with a live band, singing various country medleys, most recognizable, even to the non-country music aficionado. It was sort of a dark and mysterious atmosphere, with a few strategically placed lights to bring some color to the scene.

Then you make your way upstairs to the second floor, which overlooks the ground floor on three sides. There are a number of tables for eating, as they have an appetizer and dinner menu, and another bar. I will say that the drinks were pretty pricey for not that much alcohol, and we weren’t very pleased with the service. I think it’s a common practice in bars, for people to underserve younger girls because they think we don’t know how much we are drinking, but it’s not our first rodeo, and that is basically mountain dew with no alcohol, ma’am. Let’s try that again.

There was a line to get up to the roof but the wait wasn’t terribly long, maybe 15 min. And I’d say it’s definitely worth it. The rooftop has a partially indoor bar and dance floor that reminds me of clubs in Miami. There were blue and purple neon lights everywhere, and huge flat screens playing sports and MTV-esque videos. There was a huge full service bar with endless amounts of barstools. Then you walk out onto the open-air section of the roof and you can see all of downtown. It’s a really awesome view, and it’s fun being outside and still having the bar/club ambiance.

All in all, I’d give the new FGL House an 8/10, because the atmosphere was awesome, but you need a bigger pocketbook to afford the drinks, and they were subpar at best… and drinks are kind of important at a bar.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
