Life is snowballing this semester between trying to fit in everything I wanted to experience while still an undergrad and picking out graduate schools to apply to. I have developed an anxious and confused heart through this, but luckily Pinterest and Jesus got my back. During the past few weeks, I have leaned on my faith a lot to help guide me and the following is five verses for the confused soul.
1. Proverbs 19:21
"You can make your plans, but the Lord's purpose will prevail."
This verse has been the foundation of my life since my senior year of high school. It has guided me to acceptance of not being in control, and if you know me then you understand how hard not being in control is. Since finding this verse, I have surrendered my life and decided that life is so much more fun when you let God lead.
2. Isaiah 45:2
"I will go before you and will level the mountains.."
This verse reminds me that the Father is always with me when things are good, bad, or all around questionable. He has paved the paths that I am meant to walk, I just need to trust Him and follow.
3. Ephesians 3:20
"Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think."
I fell in love with this verse because of what it stands for. God has much bigger plans for my life than my human mind can even imagine so when I didn't get the job that seemed absolutely perfect for me, I can rest easy because there is more in store.
4. 1 Peter 5:10
"..So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation."
I once wrote a blog post called the "Mastering the Art of Being Broken," and my favorite line from this applies to this verse. He’s not going to chase you but let you come to Him instead, and when you make that decision to come to Him, He will painfully, slowly, and lovingly piece you back together. And after I drag Him the pieces, I get reesembled, get a little pep talk, a heart hug, and a point in the right direction. He will firmly plant those who are willing to stick it out in the dirt.
5. Esther 4:14
"Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created."
This verse does not need a commentary, but next time that you get caught up in falling apart, take a moment with arms stretched to the sky and remember.
