Five Underrated Artists You Should Check Out Right Now

Have you ever been cruising in your car just trying to get your jam on, when you realized that every song you were listening to sounded the same? I think we could all use a little variety in our musical lives, so here are a few artists for all you music buffs to check out.

1. James Blake

He is a break from your typical alternative artist with a voice that could melt butter and mellow bass-filled melodies. If you are looking to have your mind blown while simultaneously chillaxing, he's your man.

2. twenty one pilots

They are so legit that they don't even have to capitalize their name. They are the pop-punk band you have been waiting your whole life for, and they are unapologetically strange. Their fan base is known as the Skeleton Clique which is just so bada** that there is no way you could not want to be part of it.

3. The Lonely Biscuits

Formerly known as Gravy and the Biscuits, this band of misfits with hair longer than my own will put you in the best mood you have been in all year. To say that their music gives off good vibes would be the biggest understatement. They somehow manage to combine beach rock with alternative rap and crooning, and make it work effortlessly.

4. Zach Heckendorf

First of all, he graduated from my high school so I may be a little biased, but I think this kid is the next big thing. He even had a song on Now That's What I Call Music, Vol. 42. He's got an incredibly talented guitarist by his side, and the vocals to match, and he's only 21. Plus, he is cute. If Dave Matthews is your cup of tea, Zach is your dude.

5. Chance the Rapper

You have probably heard of this guy. He is the genius behind Acidrap, and his music is the answer to all your prayers. It has got a quick paced beat that keeps you hooked, beginning to end, and his rhymes never fail. He is best friends with Childish Gambino and raps about Frank Ocean. I mean, c'mon, people.

I know we all love screaming the basic lyrics to Jason Derulo songs and singing about - well, about singing in the shower, but I think it's time we gave something else a try.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
