Summer break is coming to an end. That sentence alone makes my heart break slowly. While I was in school most of the summer, I'm still sad to see it come to an end. I have compiled a list of five things to do to end your summer with a bang.
This list applies to people in school, out of school, working, not working, old and young. Summer is a beautiful thing and I'm sad to see it coming to an end. To make the most of it, follow this list of five things to do:
1. Sip Frosé on the patio.
This is the ultimate drink of summer. If you haven't tried frozen rosé, you don't know what you're missing out on. Enjoy the last bits of summer by sipping on something icy and sweet, with just the right amount of alcohol.
Frosé is best enjoyed sitting outside with your friends during brunch or towards the end of the day at sunset. Once fall and winter start rolling in, we will be trading in Frosé for hot toddies and spiked cider. Enjoy this crisp beverage while it's still sunny!
2. Deep clean your room!
Before the season starts getting busy with Holidays and homework, deep clean your room. Your room needs to be your sanctuary, your place of solitude. After a long day you should be able to come home and lay on your bed and just unwind. Dust your head boards, Windex all your mirrors and windows, vacuum, wash all laundry, then fold it and put it away correctly.
Reorganize your closet, get it ready for fall outfits. Buy new candles (I heard Bath and Body Works is starting to bring out their fall scented candles, HELL YES!). Deep clean while you still have a chance. Once school gets here, you might not have as much time.
3. Go to the Pool or Beach.
Pool hours vary by state, where I'm from our pool closes Labor Day weekend (lame!). If your pool hours are the same, get your tanning time in while you still can! My favorite thing in the world to do is to take a book and read it by the pool. All my book covers are ruined from pool water, but it's the most relaxing way I can think to spend my last days of summer.
If you are close to the beach (we are only a mile away), go! Feel the sand between your toes and hear the crash of the waves. I can't think of a better way to end your summer than at the beach. Commemorate your last day or week of summer, by relaxing out by the pool or at the beach.
4. Listen to Live Music Outside.
Look for live music from bands in your local area. Whether it's at a restaurant or at a park, live music is the sound of summer. Once the colder weather starts rolling in, it will be too chilly to listen to music outside.
Take advantage of the temperatures and unwind with some good local music. Take a blanket to lay on and a bottle of wine (if allowed) with plastic cups and vibe out. Live music outside won't last much longer, look for bands in your area who are playing and go support them! You will thank yourself.
5. Go to a Farmers Market.
As far as I know, Farmer's Markets aren't year-round. Find a local market near you and visit them one of these weekends. Bring a reusable bag and load it up with seasonal veggies and homemade goods. Some Farmer's Markets have food trucks or restaurants associated with them, try the local cuisine, eat outside and take in the early morning.
As an extra treat, bring your pup! You will get compliments and start engaging with people just because you brought your doggo along. It's such a refreshing way to start the day, or the weekend. Get up early and shop local!
Back-to-school blues are a real thing. Even if you aren't in school. Concerts go away, patios close up and bikini's get stuffed in the back of the closet. Summer has to end, make it a memorable ending!
