During this month of August, I entered myself to the Audible sweepstakes to win a chance as a recording reader. The "Audible Studios VIP Experience" gives all listeners an entry for the grand prize of a round trip to LA and a "head start" career of narrative skills. Audible -a partnership with Amazon -had me hooked as a listener in which it takes five stages and the right audiobook for anybody keeping their headphones on the talented, fluent voices of today's literature.
1. How do you get the most out of your Amazon account?
After a few times of renting textbooks and ordering Kindle books, you might notice how most books have an audiobook version. Audible grew up to be the world's largest library of audiobooks. While I'm already subscribed to the other Amazon features -Kindle Unlimited, Prime Music and Video -the Audible adds up more of my impulsive entertainment consumption.
2. Free Credits to Audiobooks
For every Amazon shopping member, they receive two credits of books each month. It could cost just as much as a Netflix monthly rate. They also add more to pay with all of your registered devices. To save the battery and data on my phone, I downloaded the Audible app onto my tablet to switch over when needed.
3. Capturing Interests
Before having Audible, I've listened to several comedy albums in my car. I went to the humor section while knowing a few comedians as published authors. I get hooked on biographies and memoir to educate myself on how a life story is meant to be told. For the books I've read before, I'd want to listen to somebody else saying it to make sure I don't miss any detail.
4. Sleep Timer or On The Go?
I can't tell which is the most beneficial: Laying in bed to cope the occasional insomnia with book passages at a medium volume or making a digital storyteller as your invisible passenger and jogging partner? Audiobooks might be the most modern way of "having a bedtime." After so many lonely road trips, I amazed myself for finishing that book as its story in my head rushed through my travels.
5. Which book should you choose next?
As I keep with my monthly payments, I hardly notice the ongoing free credits. I keep listening to a few audiobooks for a second time. I may stick to a whole series of the humor section or some writing references. Audible is growing so big that they're creating their original books with a whole cast of voice narrations.
Does it make me a lazy reader if I always rely on audiobooks or a better reader to absorb more content by the spoken word? If you give Audible a try, you might be the next judge of that.
