5 Reasons Why Senior Year Is Awesome
Huffington Post

You have spent the past four or so years learning and growing up. There have been a lot of changes in these years with some of them teaching you a lesson or two. You have had your triumphs and sometimes even failures, but now you are a senior. You have one year left until you can hold that diploma. Your senior year is awesome and here's why.

1. You know how to navigate campus.

By now, you have mastered the art of power walking across campus to make it to your class. This is critical when your professor runs class way over the scheduled time on a consistent basis. Being able to execute your way through the crowds of students in a timely manner makes a difference between being on time or being locked out of class.

2. You get to know your professors.

Making friends with your professors and peers can be terrifying. However, over the past few years, you have managed to get to know people. This is especially good for potential letters of references as well as looking at your professors as mentors instead of monsters. Over the years you make connections with these educators. Perhaps you might have even learned something by getting to know them.

3. Classes do not seem as intimidating.

Think back to your first day of freshman year. Do you remember how nerve wracking it was? The constant fear of writing papers or giving a speech made you want to curl up in a ball and cry. Those fears have all came and went. By now you're a pro at all-nighters and sprucing up papers to make the page count. Four-some years of college has made you efficient in budgeting your time.

4. You know where prime parking is.

For those of us who have commuted to college, parking can be your worst enemy. My sophomore year alone, I was twenty minutes late for my first class of the semester. Why? Because parking can be awful. However, you have learned the best times and places to get the Olympic medal of parking spots. By mastering the parking war, you save time and that means more time to snag a coffee in the morning.

5. You are almost done.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. All these years have not been wasted, even though there were plenty of times where you felt as it was. You are almost graduated and about to close one chapter of your life. You are months away from starting your dream. All these years spent at college will be cherished memories you will always have. Congrats my friend, you did it!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
