Five Reasons Why I'll Always Need My Dad
Ariana Claire Waggoner

Growing up, I was lucky enough to have both of my parents in my life. Like most young girls, I considered myself to be a daddy's girl. I followed my daddy around like a puppy. I wanted to help him in every way possible. Even as an adult, I still need my father in everyday life. Here are five reasons why I need my daddy.

1. My dad always supports me.

A father is more than just a man who helped make the child. A father is someone who loves and supports their child. My dad worked a lot when I was growing up, so he couldn't be around for everything. He did not go to every band concert or dance recital, but he was cheering me on from miles away. My dad still supports me in everything I do. He supports me financially and emotionally. He makes sure that I have everything I need.

2. My dad answers all my questions.

There is no magical guide to being an adult, but my daddy has taught me valuable lessons that I have carried throughout my life. He taught me basic life skills that help me in every aspect of life. Even when I ask silly questions, he answers them in the best way possible. I know he tries so hard not to laugh every time I ask him, "What are all these symbols on my dashboard?" or "Why are there so many types of light bulbs?" I know he gets aggravated with me every time I ask him how to put air in my tires, but he always answers me because he is my daddy.

3. My dad tells me when I'm wrong.

Like most children, I acquired my stubbornness from my dad. I am pretty stubborn, but he is even more stubborn than I am. He and I can argue for hours before we even realize we are on the same side. He always tells me when I make a bad decision or mess up. This is helpful and I'm glad he does this, because if he didn't, I would be going through life looking like an idiot. He gives me his honest opinions on things, which is a good thing because everyone needs someone in their life who can be blunt and tell them that what they are doing is maybe not the best. My daddy is that guy, and I'm very thankful for him.

4. My dad treats my mother with respect.

Every girl imagines that they will be treated like a princess by the man of their dreams. My daddy treats my mother like his queen. He is always making her smile and hugging her from behind to surprise her. He treats her with respect and honor. He showed me how a man should treat and love a woman. He made me realize that I should never let a man treat me like I am ordinary or tell me that I'm not special. I hope I am lucky enough to fall in love with a man who treats me just like my daddy treats my mother.

5. My dad loves me.

I am thankful to have one man I can always rely on. I know that if I called my dad during any situation I get myself into, he will be there at the drop of a pin. My daddy is always putting me before himself. I know when he is working long nights to pay bills, he is thinking about me. My daddy loves me. He cares for me. He always says how important his family is, which is so unbelievable sometimes. It is so hard to comprehend how much a father can love a child, but I know every time my daddy tells me, "I love you, Boog" that he means it. I know that my daddy loves me. No matter where I go in life or what I do, he will always love me.

Thank you, Daddy, for being my best friend. Thank you for caring about me and loving me, even when I make you mad. Thank you for showing me how to be an adult. Thank you for being my Daddy.

I love you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
