Everyone has seen "Friends." Even if you don’t like "Friends," you’ve seen at least a handful of episodes. I hate "Friends," and I’ve seen every single one. Hell, even if you loath it, you probably still have a favorite character. Mine is Chandler.
I’m not the only one that doesn’t like "Friends." The show was so tacky it makes you cringe. There are definitely a vast amount of people who do like "Friends," which is understandable. The show was entertaining and took the viewer out of their own life and into a group of loving friends that are caring and respectful. With that said, here is a list of reasons why "Friends" is unrealistic.
1. Nobody includes their sibling in their main circle of friends.
If I got coffee every morning with my friends and my brother was always there, I probably would be really annoyed. This isn’t offensive because he feels the same way. We get along, but we need space. I don’t have any friends with siblings who feel differently.
2. New York City is freaking expensive.
No one can afford to live like they do in New York City. Joey eats so much, he’d be eaten alive. How do they afford to go to a café and drink coffee and eat croissants every morning?
3. There’s no way you see your friends every day and be happy about it.
I have a best friend. His name is Joe. We have good times, like when we go to Subway or walk around Hannaford for an hour, but he does this thing sometimes when I ask him a question and he chooses to ignore me just because he knows how much it pisses me off –– and it works. I get really mad. The point is, everybody’s friends do things they love but they also do things they hate. If I was Monica and all my friends came to my house every single day, I would probably lose it.
4. Not all of your friends look like that.
Jennifer Aniston. Courtney Cox. Lisa Kudrow. Enough said. Even the guys are pretty good looking. There’s an abundance of good-looking young white people. There has to be some type of science that defies this. Your friend group probably has a lot more diversity.
5. Your friends don’t take your bulls**t.
In "Friends," when Joey eats all of Monica’s food he is rarely scolded, if at all. If I ever did that to a friend, they’d probably kill me.
I know there are a lot of devoted "Friends" fans that are probably angry at this article. I understand and agree. "Friends" is a television sitcom, and it has the liberty to be unrealistic. My favorite show is "Seinfeld" which does the same thing. The difference between "Friends" and "Seinfeld" is that "Seinfeld" is funny.
