I love avocados. There, I said it. Avocados are amazing. They can come in so many different forms. You can mix your avocados together with a couple more ingredients to make guacamole. You can mix it with hummus to get avocado hummus. You can eat it plain. You can eat it salted. Heck, there is a whole restaurant devoted to avocados. I love avocados so much, and I believe that avocados feel the same way towards me. They have truthfully taught me so many life lessons.

1. The wait can be very worth it in the end

I'm not always the most patient person, but avocados taught me to wait it out. I often find myself craving avocados, and I often buy two ripe and two unripe avocados so I can have one or two the day I buy them and then I have two for later. But if you cave in and eat those avocados too early they don't taste great because they aren't perfectly ripe. When you wait just days longer that avocado will be at its peak taste.

2. Find someone that loves you as much as you love avocados and in the same way

True avocado lovers love avocados in all shapes and forms. Whether it is all dressed up (guacamole) or au naturel. Whether it is salty or spread thin (on a piece of toast). I truly love avocados so much so that they taught me that I need to find people that love me like I love avocados--unconditionally.

3. The most beautiful are those that shine from within and not just have a shiny exterior

Some avocados don't look absolutely beautiful on the outside, but that doesn't mean that they aren't going to taste amazing. The only way to truly tell if an avocado is beautiful is to open it. Then you get a full glimpse of its beauty.

4. Nobody, not even your closest friends or family members can be trusted 100% of the time

Trust me, they will steal that perfectly ripe avocado that you had been waiting for four days to eat. Sometimes even worse is when they take that guac that you had saved from the night before. Don't be this person! Get your own avocados, and don't steal mine! Or I will be very sad.

5. Sometimes you have to work hard to get what you love

Sometimes getting an avocado ready to eat is a harder process than it should be. If you are unable to afford one of those amazing avocado gadget that help you prepare your avocados it can be extra tricky. I've learned that the hard work that you put into it is so worth it though. There is nothing better than the satisfaction that comes with sitting down and eating your scrumptious avocado that you struggled to peel, pit, and slice.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
