Tallahassee, Florida is known for many things, but their local restaurants just can't be beaten.
1. Gordos
I don’t feel like I need to say much more than that. If you know anyone that attends Florida State University, you know what Gordos is. Their delicious food combined with their central location and tasty drinks (yes the alcoholic ones), Gordos is the hot spot for most college kids looking to get a good meal or pre-game for happy hour. If you do go to Gordos, be sure you allow a couple hours for this venture. The drinks are up-to-par, but the service isn’t quite there yet.
2. Momo's pizza
PIZZA THE SIZE OF YOUR HEAD. Not only do you get phenomenal pizza for a reasonable price, but it is literally the size of your face and will fill you up just as much as a medium pizza from Dominos would. The environment is friendly and the location is right by Florida State. It is perfect for a yummy dinner or an after tailgate hang out. No matter your reasons for going to Momo’s, your needs will be satisfied. And if you don’t like their pizza as much as I do, then you’re probably just insane and should stick to that cardboard you call pizza from Papa Johns.
3. Robotos
This one comes with a few warnings. It is the cheapest Hibachi you will ever find in the entire world, but the quality is questionable. You might think to yourself, “huh, $7 hibachi? Seems pretty cheap but it looks good!” And folks, it is very good. Just know that there is about a 50% chance you could vomit it up later or be laying in bed for a couple hours afterward in severe stomach pain. The lucky ones get out with no symptoms of stomach pain or nausea. Despite all of the risks, it tastes good going down and is worth the try.
4. Township
This great little place just opened up in Collegetown right next to Florida State and is quite a hit. I’ve only been once due to the high demand for seating and beer. Kids flock from near and far to hit up Township before a night out, or just to hang out and grab a drink and food with friends. There’s just something about Township’s design that makes you feel like you’re 30 years old going to get a beer with your friends after a long day on the job. Their giant pretzels and beer cheese are to die for, and it is primal location.
5. Publix
I know what you guys are thinking, “This isn’t a restaurant, this is a grocery and they’re all over Florida not just in Tallahassee.” But just chill guys, this one is for my out of state kids. The minute most of out of state kids step food in Florida they hear the word Publix at least a dozen times. It’s a great grocery store that has amazing hot food like, Chinese food, dinner meals, and subs. The possibilities are endless at Publix and I suggest it to everyone who isn’t from Florida but is craving a fairly cheap hot meal.
