You would be hard-pressed to find an individual who does not love music. Everyone has at least one genre, artist or album that they simply can't get enough of; whether it is techno, Taylor Swift or "To Pimp A Butterfly." These are the albums that always activate my emotions in a plethora of ways.
5. "The Last"
This is the final album of the bachata group Aventura, after lead singer Romeo Santos decided to finally pursue a solo career. The group revolutionized Latino music and proved its dominance with its latest album. I love dancing to their music and there is always a great sense of joy every time I listen to the album.
4. "Cole World: Sideline Story"
This album was released in 2011 and is the debut album of rapper J. Cole. He is currently one of my favorite rappers and I had been listening to him since 2008, anxiously anticipating his first album; it did not disappoint. I love listening to it because it is representative of the true artistry of music that still exists in hip-hop, shining right through all of the garbage that is released nowadays. He is one of a few artists that have been my inspiration to write my own rhymes.
3. "Man on the Moon II"
Oh, man, where to begin with Kid Cudi? While listening to his second career album, I feel compelled to just completely zone out and forget about all of my troubles and concerns. The combination of the composed melodies and sounds speak to me and I cannot help but sing along to Cudi’s music, as it shatters my self-control. Similar to J. Cole, his music also inspires my writings.
2. "Illmatic"
This is the great Nas’ first album of his well-respected and revered career. Although it only consists of 10 tracks, Illmatic is a lyrical masterpiece. I love to listen to it, but not because of the beats, instrumentals or hooks, mainly due to the wisdom that flows out of his vocal cords. I can do nothing more than simply appreciate his talent that is showcased in this album.
1. "The Eminem Show"
Last, but not least, I have arrived at my number one album of all time: "The Eminem Show." It is not Eminem’s first, last or breakout album. However, it is regarded as his very best. He raps about his childhood struggles and troubles among the common individual, as well as issues among society. There is even a song that tells a story from the point of view of a fan. Who else has done that? Whenever I would grow extremely angry and hostile towards someone, usually a family member, I would just lay on my bed and listen to this album. Soon after, I would have forgotten all about what angered me in the first place; that is what this album does for me.
Well, that's it. As you can see, I am a big fan of rap music and just simply can't get enough of them. In fact, I am currently listening to "The Eminem Show" as I type, therefore, I am going to cut this short to go finish it.
