1. Clockstoppers
We’ve all been lucky enough to experience this pure feeling of bliss in the morning. For some of us, the lucky few, this moment of purity happens often. For people like me, this is a rare occasion in the game we call life. The experience of waking up before your alarm clock feeling refreshed has to be one of the best ways to start your day. You have two choices on how you want to start your day. Option one is falling back asleep, which would be my choice. Option two is starting the day off early and knocking Mr. Sandman right onto his ass.
2. Rude Awakening
Whether it be your alarm clock, or your crazy neighbor upstairs who always seems to be rolling bowling balls around at 7 a.m., the rude awakening has to be one of the worst ways to wake up. Unfortunately, for those of us that aren’t freaks of nature, this will be the most common way you wake up in your lifetime. After 22 years of living on this earth, waking up to what can only be described as a sinking submarine is not getting any easier. Though as technology increases, alarms are slowly starting to adapt to our sleeping patterns, hopefully easing the pain.
3. Sleeping Beauty
The stress free life of the sleeping beauties, oh how we envy you. No alarm. No care. No responsibilities. The sleeping beauties are those who don’t need to be up for anything. They don’t get awoken by anyone, or anything. They simply sleep until their bodies naturally wake them up. Now we can’t all be sleeping beauties, but sometimes we get to taste what heaven really feels like.
4. The Hangover
“I’m never drinking again.” This is what we all mumble to ourselves as we experience the rude awakening, but this time with a pounding headache, a queasy stomach, and the look of death as we see what our lives have turned into. You were out too late last night. You may not even be waking up in a bed. You don’t know where your shoes are. Your shirt is on backwards, and as you adjust it you realize there’s a burn hole in the front. Last night you drank, and you drank a little bit too much. Now you’re slowly realizing that the rude awakening doesn’t seem so bad after all.
5. Sleepless in Seattle
Technically this doesn’t qualify as waking up, because the night before you decided to start cramming for your final in the morning. You told yourself that you’d go to bed in just one more hour, but that’s already happened four times. It’s 5 a.m., and your final is at 8 a.m. You don’t know all of the material yet, but if you just stay up all night, you might be able to slide by. The “all nighter” becomes much more prevalent as finals roll around for college students everywhere. The “all nighter” is commonly followed by the “six hour middle of the day nap,” which can lead dangerously close to a second “all nighter.” Use this technique at your own risk.
