It's finally here. The day we've all been waiting for since the first rumor of a Tanner / Katsopolis / Gladstone reunion was first talked about. The first season of "Fuller House" was finally released to Netflix on Friday, and it's everything we hoped it would be.
The pilot episode was filled with classic characters, memories, and moments that outdid what I thought Netflix was capable of creating, but there were certain aspects of the pilot that made it unforgettable. Here are five of the best parts of the "Fuller House" pilot episode.
1. How (mostly) everyone from the original cast came back.
Mostly all of our favorite characters made an appearance in the pilot episode. From our favorite parenting trio to the two oldest Tanner sisters, to the neighbor, the former heartthrob boyfriend, Becky and the twins. Nothing says nostalgia like seeing our favorite '80s sitcom characters back together in the San Francisco house we all grew up watching.
2. When they threw major shade at the Olsen twins.
Danny commenting on Michelle's absence due to her building her fashion empire in New York, followed by the cast staring pointedly into the camera may have been the best part. I mean, it was pretty well deserved. One of the twins definitely could have made time for the show that gave them their start.
3. How Netflix stayed true to the quirkiness of the characters.
After 29 years you would think that the characters may have changed, but for the most part, our favorite characters were still the same quirky and lovable people that we grew up loving. In the pilot alone, Danny talks about his feather duster, Jesse dresses DJ's youngest baby in an Elvis onesie, and Joey emerges from the basement in cartoon pajamas while making a Bullwinkle impression. On top of that, we also get a 'how rude' from Stephanie, an eccentrically dressed Kimmy, and Steve eating all of the Tanner's food.
4. How the additional new characters fit in perfectly.
In the pilot, we're introduced to DJ's three boys and Kimmy's daughter Ramona. Ramona is spunky and quirky just like her mother. DJ's middle son Max has a cleanliness trait just like his grandfather and baby Tommy is lovable just like Michelle was. (He's even played by twins just like Michelle was.) Their strong personalities all fit right into the chemistry of the show.
5. All of the references to the original show.
Throughout the pilot, the cast continuously makes references to the original show that took the audience back through memory lane. They mentioned when DJ and Stephanie shared a room. They said how all of their issues were solved with hugs and Joey's puppet; Mr. Woodchuck even made a guest appearance. The final side by side scene where it showed Danny, Jesse, Joey and the girls singing to Michelle in the original "Full House" next to the same original five singing the "Flintstones" theme song to baby Tommy. It was an amazing way to show how everything came around full circle.
If there's anything that the "Fuller House" pilot showed us, it's that this spin-off is just as quirky, corny, and lovable as the original was. Thanks, Netflix, you did a good job on this one.
