I don't know about the rest of you out there, but I certainly enjoy being able to come home and have a nice home-cooked meal after being away at school. I also know I'm not the only one that looks forward to all the yummy food that comes around during the holidays. With all that eating comes a "bogged down" feeling in the post holiday season.

How do you combat that feeling? For me, I have found a Fitbit to be my new best friend. I have also found my Fitbit to be a key piece in working towards my New Year's resolution of becoming more active in my daily life.

A Fitbit is a step tracker/fitness monitor all in one. It starts out by giving you a goal of 10,000 steps. You can reach this goal by walking, running, jogging in place, or dancing. Case in point, you reach your goal every day simply by making sure to get up and move.

You can track how close to your goal you are in one of two ways. There is a Fitbit application that will tell you your step number or, in my case, I have the Fitbit flex and can double tap on the plastic window on the band. Each time a new dot is illuminated on the window, I know I am 20 percent closer to my 10,000 step goal. With each step you take, it can help you to feel less like you're bogged down and more like you're back in your rhythm, simply by making it a point to get up and move around more.

How does one stay motivated?

By utilizing the Fitbit application on your phone, you are able to participate in challenges with friends and fellow users, making it into a game of sorts to see who can reach the set goal first.

Some people may wonder, "Can this step-counter really help me? Is it worth the price?"

Speaking as someone who is more than content to spend the entirety of her day parked on the couch with her dogs (no, I'm not proud of that fact), I can personally say it is worth the price and I am very thankful that my mom was willing to get it for me. My Fitbit is about five days old at this point and the changes I've made have been rather great. I am getting out and walking more than I was doing before, I'm slowly trying to change my eating habits and even making a point to drink more water than what I was drinking pre-Fitbit.

Another great thing I've noticed is that I'm not driving to places as much as I used to. If the place is a great distance away, I will drive, but if it is simply a few extra blocks, I will now walk when I used to drive. I'm sure my wallet is happy about this one! Bottom line: if you're looking for something that can help you become more active, be fit, and save you money in the long run, I highly recommend a Fitbit!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
