The First Year of College As Told By Michelle Tanner

The first year of college is a whirlwind. It's filled with many ups and many downs — inevitably making for the best times of your life and some of the worst. I am about 3/4 of the way through my freshman year, and it has definitely been a period of growth for me. I have learned a lot in my months away from home. It is hard to explain the experience to someone who hasn't been through it, but Michelle Tanner justifiably explains the first year of college better than I ever could.

When you first arrive at college and you are finally on your own, you feel on top of the world! You knew this day was coming, and the excitement has built up. You are so eager to celebrate your newfound freedom, and when you first get to school, you are more than ready to go.

The first couple of nights that you go out in college are most likely going to be chaotic. Not only are you experiencing your freedom for the first time, but so are all the other freshman. You are so excited that you can do what you want, but you don't want to seem as eager as you are to everyone else so you play it cool.

Then when Monday comes around, it hits you that you actually have classes to attend and responsibilities to take care of all on your own. This is quite the adjustment and you will most likely end up running (or at least speed walking like crazy) to your first couple of classes.

There are so many opportunities available to you, and you want to try everything. It is a "new beginning" after all.

You get that first breather and you realize you actually feel a little homesick and a bit lonely without your family.

You start noticing just how expensive the cost of living is and how fast you can go through your money.

When you go home for break, you indulge because you realize just how much you miss the comfort of home and homemade meals.

Trying to balance school, your social life, and sleep can get to be overwhelming, and you end up struggling to keep your eyes open in your early morning classes.

You go to the rec center that you've heard so much about and attempt to not gain the freshman 15 that you've also heard so much about.

When second semester begins to roll around, you come to terms with the fact that you can't make every night extravagant, and sometimes it's better to just stay in for the night.

You then start finding a good balance between everything, and you semi get a handle of the whole "college thing."

Then you realize that your first year of college is almost over, and you can't believe it (me currently).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
