The start of another semester is quickly approaching. It's exciting and sad all at once. You're going to see old and new faces, get the feel for your classes, and get back into the college routine. Whether it be your first year in college or your last, Tim Gunn is here to tell you exactly how it's going to go. Make it work!
Signing up for an 8 a.m. class every day
You can probably drag yourself out of bed to an 8 a.m. a couple times a week (maybe). BUT EVERYDAY? NO. Just go ahead and drop that class now. Unless you really think you are going to bed before 11 p.m. every night, that daily 8 a.m. is going to be disastrous.
Seeing your bare dorm/apartment for the first time
I guarantee you are going to feel this way. How can you possibly live in this tiny, ugly room? Do not despair. You're going to decorate and before you know it, that room is going to look fabulous! You get used to the small size too.
Going to class and finding out attendance is not mandatory
Byeeeee! Just kidding. You should definitely go to class whether it is mandatory or not. You're probably paying around $1000 for that class, so get your money's worth.
Getting an assignment on the very first day

This is college, people! Don't be surprised when this happens. Back to work!
Looking around at girls' outfits
They. Are. Everywhere. I get it it's hot but my goodness. It's either this or oversized T-shirts.
Telling yourself you're going to start getting ahead on work for the semester
I think everyone has this goal every semester. This semester is it! You are going to start the very first week back and get ahead on your assignments, right? Wrong. This is college, getting ahead is not even a real thing.
Seeing on your syllabus that the final is worth 40 percent of your entire grade
This really happens.
When a very attractive person sits next to you on the first day
Hey, microbiology doesn't seem so bad after all, now does it? Looks like that MRS degree might be underway ;)
Finally getting through the first week
Classic Tim Gunn advice. You've got your classes, due dates, expectations, friends, and decorations all in place.
Make it work!
