After almost three years, The 1975 are back! Their highly anticipated second album, "I like it when you sleep, for you are beautiful yet so unaware of it" finally became available for purchase on February 26th.
The 1975 were interviewed for NME Magazine in late January 2016 where frontman Matty Healy stated, "It's quite an emotional investment. It's art. It's what I want to do. The world needs this album." While listening to this fantastic album, I managed to write down my thoughts and reactions to each track after hearing it for the first time.
1. "The 1975"
I can't believe it's actually time to listen to this. Alright, I’m ready. Wait am I listening to the new album or the old album? Oh! I see what you did here. I lied, I'm not ready!
2. "Love Me"
If this is the new sound everyone is so afraid of then I am so here for this! These lyrics are spectacular. I just want to dance! How am I supposed to last the whole album?
3. "UGH!"
I need this song on a loop forever. Why can’t I stop dancing in this chair? Get it together. Ugh! What a song title they got there.
4. "A Change of Heart"

5. "She’s American"
Wait, I’m American! This beat is absolutely fantastic. I’m going to need an instrumental. Am I supposed to be offended by this song because if I am, whoops; all I feel for this song is love. The way Matty is saying, 'Don’t fall in love with the moment my goodness, I need a moment.'
6. "If I Believe You"
OK! Damn, The 1975 are back at it again with the gospel influences. Why is my face wet? Oh, those are just tears. It’s fine. We’re all fine. Just kidding, this song is my cause of death. See you in the afterlife.
7. "Please Be Naked"
Who wants to sleep and drive to this song all at the same time? Me! I don’t understand how one band can make me feel so many things in one four-minute and 26-second song. It doesn't even have any words!
8. "Lost My Head"
Face down! Everything in life right now is just so beautiful and pure. No complaints about anything. I’m definitely 100 percent sober so what is this trance I am entering? Imagine listening to this high. Beat drop! I am so alive!
9. "The Ballad of Me and My Brain"
This beginning is so euphoric. I’m just entering Heaven, it’s no big deal. Really loving this raspy voice you going on here Matty. You guys make me want to hide under a rock. I'm not worthy of any of this.
10. "Somebody Else"
This is my love life in a song! I have so many feelings. Why am I crying again? I want to scream these lyrics from a rooftop. Any rooftop. All this synth is just too much for my heart to handle. Someone get me a tissue.
11. "Loving Someone"
I should be loving someone? Listen to me, sweet angels of The 1975, the only people I should love are you guys and I do so I think I’m all set here. I just experienced 13 different emotions in this one song and I’m totally OK with that.
12. "I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it"
I love when songs match the album title. What a vibe this is. Is it bad that I'm in love with a song that has one sentence? I clearly must have problems if I do. The last minute of this song is just really what life is all about.
13. "The Sound"
What a guitar solo we have here! That’s it. I have no other words for anything at this moment.14. "This Must Be My Dream"
John! The saxophone! Someone, please come save me. I can’t keep handling these feels. Am I in an '80s movie right now? I definitely should be. Sorry Molly Ringwald, but this song has brought me here to replace you.
15. "Paris"
This is so sad but still so beautiful. Someone get him to Paris right now! Enough, please the amount of genius in this album is finally starting to get to me.
16. "Nana"
What a way to honor someone. This is so beautiful and emotional. I just don’t know what to do with myself. I’ll just be sobbing for the rest of my life if you need me.
17. "She Lays Down"
Way to go acoustic on us! She just wants to feel something and I don’t think that’s asking for too much? This is so sad. I don’t want this to end. Why did they do this to me? I hate them. I love them.
After listening to this album seven more times, you can find me in any corner counting down the days until I see them on tour in May.
If you're looking for an album to make you feel so incredibly happy, sad and everything in between then look no further! This album truly is a work of art. Thank you to The 1975 for blessing us all with such wonderful music. You were right Matty, the world needed this.
