Well, my first semester of college is coming to a close, and let me just say it's been one wild ride. All those days I spent in high school envisioning what life would be like a year from then definitely didn't go as planned. Here's to all the laughs, tears, late nights and early mornings, cups of coffee, phone calls home, not so great grades, memories made and lessons learned.
1. You can't handle college the way you handled high school.
2. You're going to miss home more than you thought.
3. You will struggle to find your place on campus.
4. Home won't really feel like 'home' anymore.
5. You will fall out of touch with friends from high school.
6. The first day of college is the first day your career begins; create a LinkedIn, update your resume, and never forget to network.
7. It's okay to not be best friends with your roommates.
8. It's always better to ditch the frozen dinners and cook an actual meal for yourself instead.
9. Always, always stand up for yourself because there's going to be a lot of people who will try to bring you down.
10. Recognize deadlines, act accordingly.
11. Explore as much as you can; it helps to maintain your sanity.
12.8am in college is not the same as 8am in high school.
13. Utilize RateMyProfessor, you do not want to be stuck with terrible teachers.
14. Working out is a great outlet to to release any stress you will be experiencing.
15. You don't have to follow the crowd.
