Dear President,
I do not pretend to know everything about politics, nor do I assume myself the position of having a vast political effect on our nation. I am, however, a representative of the generation that will soon inherit this country from you and, thus, I feel as if I must address myself to you as a representative for others who may share ideals and values similar mine. Political ties and allegiances are irrespective, here. My words are bare and honest, and I hope to bring forth my own opinion in light of the presidential campaign currently consuming the media.
I am a college student and represent my identity by constantly being desperately sleep-deprived and unhappily poor. More than anything, however, I represent my identity by being motivated and driven for the future that is just beginning to brink upon our horizon. There is no group of people that you will meet that is more motivated for what they believe in than the youth, and for this reason, I implore you not to wrong us. We are a generation born into recessions and a world of terrorism. Freedoms were taken from us before we had a chance to experience some of them. However, we have been given a taste of a diversified and united country and thus live through the ideals of hope in a united universe built upon the foundations of altruism, as well as the ability to succeed. It is difficult to remain hopeful in a world where there is no guarantee for the safety of economy and secure living. However, hope is a contagion that our country needs to catch. As a president, never let the hope of the youth die out, as it will carry through in even the darkest of times, creating the backbone for patriotism.
There is much that needs to be changed in this country that is falling into disrepair due to the lack of connection between our outdated governmental rules and our ever-changing nation. Much needs to be altered and, therefore, I must remind you of the promises you now make, and hope that you will remember them when you attain the position you yearn for. Please, allow an individual to be an individual. This country is in need of a torch of hope to guide the way through the global darkness in which we now embark blindly. Please, Mr. President, be a torch that will remain lit to guide us through the end of the tunnel.
Until next time,
Your citizen.
