It's the days all Tech students know well. Here's an ode to the first 15 school days of Winter Quarter!

On the first day of winter quarter school gave to me,

A syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the second day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the third day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the fourth day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the fifth day of winter quarter school gave to me,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the sixth day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Six two-hour lectures,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the seventh day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Seven broken pencils,

Six two-hour lectures,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the eighth day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Eight sleepness nights,

Seven broken pencils,

Six two-hour lectures,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the ninth day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Nine stress-pints of ice cream,

Eight sleepness nights,

Seven broken pencils,

Six two-hour lectures,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the tenth day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Ten phone calls home,

Nine stress-pints of ice cream,

Eight sleepness nights,

Seven broken pencils,

Six two-hour lectures,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the eleventh day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Eleven freak outs,

Ten phone calls home,

Nine stress-pints of ice cream,

Eight sleepness nights,

Seven broken pencils,

Six two-hour lectures,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the twelfth day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Twelve ugly-sweater parties,

Eleven freak outs,

Ten phone calls home,

Nine stress-pints of ice cream,

Eight sleepness nights,

Seven broken pencils,

Six two-hour lectures,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the thirteenth day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Thirteen days of rain, (for real though, why is it still raining?)

Twelve ugly-sweater parties,

Eleven freak outs,

Ten phone calls home,

Nine stress-pints of ice cream,

Eight sleepness nights,

Seven broken pencils,

Six two-hour lectures,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

On the fourteenth day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Fourteen days off soon,

Thirteen days of rain,

Twelve ugly-sweater parties,

Eleven freak outs,

Ten phone calls home,

Nine stress-pints of ice cream,

Eight sleepness nights,

Seven broken pencils,

Six two-hour lectures,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

And finally,

On the fifteenth day of winter quarter school gave to me,

Fifteen assignments due the day after break,

Fourteen days off,

Thirteen days of rain,

Twelve ugly-sweater parties,

Eleven freak outs,

Ten phone calls home,

Nine stress-pints of ice cream,

Eight sleepness nights,

Seven broken pencils,

Six two-hour lectures,

FIVE GROUP PROJECTS! (Dying inside)

Four migraines,

Three test dates,

Two research papers,

And a syllabus that made me want to cry.

Happy Winter Quarter everyone! When the tears come, just remember that we get fourteen days off very soon!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
