Last night, I hope you felt the fireworks. I hope you saw the wonder when skies filled up with color. And in the moment, I hope you were reminded that it’s possible, that beauty still happens. We don’t only live in books awake and dreams asleep. We are living our stories you and I, with dreams inside us undeniable, love to give and people to walk with. I hope for you what I hope for myself - that we might keep walking west and looking up, that we might see something wonderful.
That was an excerpt from Jamie Tworkowski's autobiography entitled, If You Feel Too Much. It paints such a vivid, magnificent picture for the brain to marvel at. Prior to even reading this excerpt, fireworks have always been special to me. The moment when those sparks radiate the sky with bursts of color remind me just how beautiful life can be. They hold such beauty, such magnificence. Tworkowski's words just confirm an already apparent concept. They play off the idea that fireworks are living proof that beauty and light still remains in this world, despite its perceived absence at times. The stars shine so miraculously bright, but we often lose sight of them in the night sky. The sky becomes so dark and bleak that the darkness soon becomes all our eyes are able to see, and we neglect to remember that light still exists. The darkness becomes blinding Fireworks show that even in the darkest night, an array of vibrant colors can illuminate the sky and reveal that there is still light to be found. In a sky full of nothing but a vast sea of darkness, it is possible for colors to seep through the cracks and create a beautiful masterpiece. You are free to interpret this however you wish; I will leave that part up to the reader's imagination.
I believe it's saying that humans are born with a natural gift and power to transform something ugly into a breathtaking work of art. The absence of light is simply an illusion. In reality, the light is always there. Bursts of color continue to radiate the sky every single day, even if they seem close to invisible. When lost in an endless forest of darkness, remember to search for that tiny spec of color in the sky and that will help guide you home again. Both light and darkness are present in our lives at all times. Neither can exist without the other. Even when skies look grim and you see nothing but black, the light is still there. Continue searching for it.
