Picture this: You wake up on Christmas morning. You go downstairs and see a box sitting in the middle of your living room. You hear tiny whimpers escaping the box. When you open the lid, out jumps the tiniest, cutest little furry friend you could have ever asked for. That would be great right? What if I told you your parents (or yourself) could have adopted that little guy for a reduced price on Black Friday? That's even better!
It is a fact that animal shelters are overflowing and there is starting to not be enough space to house the animals that come through. The rate for euthanasia is increasing and unless these animals find themselves in no-kill shelters, it becomes a very real problem for them since many people do not think to go to a shelter in order to adopt a pet. To me, this is something that is starting to become a very real problem, especially in the Cleveland area.
Pets are part of our families. They love us and want to be with us through everything. They are a shoulder to cry on and they are always able to make us laugh. Before I get to talking about how you can adopt a pet for a free or reduced price tag this Black Friday, I'd like to take a minute to introduce you to some of the member's of the Cleveland Odyssey Community's pets.
1. Gizmo and Katelyn
This is Gizmo and his owner Katelyn. Gizmo is a 6-year-old, long-haired chihuahua. He only has one eye, runs into walls, and deals with pirate jokes almost every day. According to Katelyn, he's her best friend and has been there with her through a lot.
2. Zoey and Kirsten
This is Zoey. She is a Shetland Sheepdog, also known as a sheltie. According to Kirsten, she loves to be the center of attention. Look how pretty!
3. Jaxon and Kaitlynn
This is my dog Jaxon. He is an English Bulldog and I can honestly say he is the light of my life. He is the funniest and coolest dog I have ever met and I love him to no end. He is definitely the definition of man's best friend.
So as I was saying, there are many opportunities to adopt pets for free or reduced prices this Black Friday. The Cleveland APL is offering 50 percent cats, kittens and rabbits, where puppies and dogs will be 20 percent off. All of the pets have been spayed and neutered as well, which takes a huge cut on the price to have a pet to begin with. There are many other shelters in the area, so I urge you to call and see which types of deals they would be having for black Friday. Websites such as petfinder.com can help in your search for a furry friend this holiday season!
