Living in today's world, it's hard to find beauty in anything, especially yourself. I never saw myself as the girl who stood out in a crowd or someone who caught people's attention. Like most girls I was self-conscious about my looks. I would look through Instagram or magazines and want to be every girl I saw. I always thought I would be confident if I could just look like a certain person. But one thing I learned is confidence is found when you truly love yourself.
The solution to this problem of not being confident was found in my Father, my Jesus. Isaiah 43:4 says, "You are precious in my eyes and honored, I love you." and Song of Solomon 4:7 says, "You are altogether beautiful my love, there is no flaw in you."
The world portrays that you have to be perfect to be beautiful. God doesn't want you to be perfect because only He is perfect. However, in his eyes you are perfect, and you are beautiful. A few years ago I did the No Makeup November challenge and if you have never done that I highly encourage you to take the challenge. You see, during this fast from makeup you realize that makeup doesn't make you beautiful because behind all of that makeup is an insecure girl.
Being yourself is what gives you true beauty. The more you decide to be yourself, the prettier you will be. Those girls in magazines don't define beauty, God does. His definition of beauty is you. The world may judge you, but God looks at the heart and sees the beauty He created. If you stood in an art museum and looked at a painting with the artist standing beside you chances are you wouldn't criticize it with him right there. Yet you will stand in front of a mirror and talk about every single flaw on you wish the artist right beside you. The artist is God. Every time you criticize yourself you are telling God he messed up. The God who makes so mistakes messed up. So stop pointing out the flaws that aren't really there, yes I said flaws that aren't there.
Be happy with yourself because when people see how happy you are the prettier you will be to them and yourself. Be that fearless girl who realized how beautiful she really is, because life without comparing yourself to others is much more enjoyable. Look at yourself like Christ looks at you and see your true beauty.
