If you’re anything like me, it’s safe to say there are some days, weeks even, where it seems like you just can’t escape loss after loss. Whether it’s a bad grade, a drunk text you shouldn’t have sent (but whoops finger slipped), or even tripping on the sidewalk, it can be hard not to feel like life has it out for you.
So, what do you do when sh*t seems to hit the fan one too many times? You laugh it off. Here are some of my favorite ways to turn the negatives into positives:
1. Tell your friends
Bringing your friends in on the latest “L” you’ve taken is my personal favorite way of making myself feel better. Not only do they reassure you that what happened isn’t the end of the world, but you also get an ab workout in from laughing so hard… so it’s really a win-win!
2. Follow “MyTherapistSays” on Instagram
Honey, if you haven’t done this already you’re missing out. Not only is it freakishly relatable, but every unfortunate event that could possibly happen to you is on that sh*t. It’s literally the Willy Wonka of taking L’s, except instead of chocolate bars you get an endless supply of memes that make you feel a little less psycho.
3. Who cares?
Alright, it happened. You did something stupid, or something crappy happened to you, whatever. Get over it! Move on! Who cares! Seriously, who. Cares. In the grand scheme of this thing we call life, what is one bad grade, one stupid text (or 1000), one rejection, one mistake? Nothing, literally nothing. Get on with it.
Again, in the words of the beloved Hannah Montana, “Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody has those days. Everybody knows what, what I’m talkin’ ‘bout everybody gets that way.” With this advice from myself, and Hannah of course, you’ll feel much better about everything that seems to be going wrong in your life. Bottom line is if you can’t cry, then laugh!
